About Hunch

Hunch is a British analytical and forecasting media platform. Every story we publish ends with the historical pattern behind it and a market.

What we do

Hunch publishes Echoes: analytical pieces that combine three things. A story in the news, the historical pattern it fits, and a market question derived from that pattern. Each Echo is built on 125 years of news archives, cross-referenced across 30+ publications, and double-verified before publication.

We cover the news our readers already follow: Westminster and the UK regions, Europe, and the global stories that move markets, technology and sport.

Readers can back their hunch on any Echo using Hunch Points, a skill-based prediction layer that rewards accuracy over time.

Why the UK

Hansard has been published continuously since 1803. The National Archives, the ONS and the Bank of England hold long, consistent series, and broadsheet coverage is indexed back to 1900. Few countries have a record that deep and that well indexed, and Britain is the one we know best. So the archive is British even when the story is not.

Why we exist

Most news tells you what happened. It rarely tells you how often that has happened before, or how it ended the other times. The record exists. It is just buried in archives nobody has time to read on a deadline.

Hunch puts that record next to the story. Every Echo shows the event, the past cases that look like it, and how each one turned out. The reader can see what is actually going on, measured against what happened the other times.

We cover the news our readers already follow. Politics is the largest part of it, because that is where the record runs deepest and where the outcome reaches everyone.

Then each Echo ends with a question. Readers answer it, and over time those answers become a public record of how well they read the news.

How we are different

  • Publishing-first. Echoes are the atomic unit. Markets are derived from Echoes, not the other way around.
  • Pattern library. 125 years of archives across British, European and international press, organised into recurring dynamics with case banks. This is our IP.
  • Human-led, machine-scaled. A person picks the story. The archive work is automated. Every fact is checked against two independent sources. Every Echo is verified by a person before it publishes. That is how a team this size keeps this pace.
  • Public reputation. Predictions are public. Accuracy is tracked via Brier score. Leaderboards make standing visible.
  • Editorial discipline. Every claim cited. No partisan position. Double-verified. Editorial Code of Practice applies to every piece.

The team

Hunch is built by Pavlo Denysiuk (founder and CEO, eight years in regulated payments and Web3, ex-CEO of Lunu Pay) and Oleksandr Semychenkov (CTO, twenty-five years building production systems, the last five leading AI and ML at scale).

Hunch is live and in its first year of publication.

The institution we are building

Our ambition is to become an analytical media institution for civic and political decision-making.

This is a long project. We invite readers who want to be part of it from the start.
