Hunch

How can we help?

Answers to common questions about Hunch.

Echoes and the two numbers

What is an Echo?

An Echo puts a story in the news next to the historical pattern it fits. It ends with a market question drawn from that pattern.

What do History and Hunch mean?

History is the record: how often the same consequence followed in past cases of the same kind. Hunch is our reading of this case. It starts from History and moves only where today differs from the past cases. The Methodology page explains both.

Markets and Hunch Points

Do Hunch Points have any money value?

No. Hunch Points carry no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for money or prizes.

How is a market settled?

Against an officially published outcome, for example Hansard or the ONS. We do not settle a market on reports that cite unnamed sources.

How accurate is Hunch?

Every settled market is scored on the Accuracy page, for History and for Hunch separately.

Membership

What stays free?

Every Echo, every market, both numbers and the Accuracy page. See Membership for what the paid plan adds.

Can I cancel?

Yes, at any time. A monthly plan stops at the end of the month you paid for.

Corrections and complaints

How do I report a factual error?

Email info@readhunch.com with the link to the Echo and the line that is wrong. We correct the Echo and add a note at the top saying what changed and when.

How do I make a complaint?

Email the same address. We acknowledge within two working days, and a named editor replies within ten. The process is set out in the Editorial Code.

Press and partners

Who do I contact for press or a partnership?
