Terms
Plain English where possible, legal where required. Read in full before creating an account.
1. Who we are
Hunch is operated by Krok Group Ltd ("Krok", "we", "us"), a company registered in England & Wales (Company No. 17183343). Registered office: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. Contact: readhunch.com/contact.
2. What we offer
Hunch is an editorial publishing platform. We publish analytical pieces called Echoes, each pairing a story in the news with the historical record behind it and a market derived from that record. All prediction markets operate using Hunch Points only. Hunch Points are free, cannot be purchased, and cannot be exchanged for money or goods. Hunch does not operate real-money markets.
3. Eligibility
You must be 18 or over to create an account. Hunch is intended for UK readers but available globally. Access from jurisdictions where prediction markets are restricted is your responsibility.
4. Your account
- One account per person. Multi-accounting forfeits all points and rankings.
- Display name is public; email is private; we never sell your data.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure.
- You can delete your account at any time from your dashboard.
5. Editorial content
Echoes are produced under our Editorial Code of Practice. We make best efforts but do not warrant the accuracy of any specific claim. Echoes are analysis, not financial or political advice. Do not make material decisions based on a single Echo.
6. Prediction markets
Predictions made using Hunch Points are skill-based and do not involve real money. Hunch Points cannot be exchanged for money or goods. Markets resolve according to public, verifiable outcome criteria stated at market creation. Resolution disputes follow the process on the Contact page.
7. Acceptable use
These rules sit inside this contract and are enforced as part of it.
Predicting in good faith
Predictions on Hunch should be your own judgement. The product loses meaning if predictions are gamed.
- One account per person. Multi-accounting forfeits all Hunch Points and rankings.
- No coordinated manipulation of market prices through groups, bot networks or scripts.
- No use of automated tools to predict on your behalf without disclosure.
- No insider trading. If you hold non-public information about a market's outcome, for example as an employee of the entity in question, do not predict on it.
Speaking on the platform
Hunch has light community features: comments on Echoes, a public profile, prediction reasoning. Standard civility rules apply.
- No harassment, threats or abuse directed at any person or group.
- No content unlawful in the UK, including defamation, incitement and contempt of court.
- No doxxing. Do not publish private information about others without consent.
- No spam, repeated promotion of unrelated services, or commercial activity outside our official Partners programme.
Technical use
- No attempting to reverse-engineer, scrape or bypass rate limits on the platform.
- No attempt to compromise the security of the service or another reader's account.
8. Membership and payment
Reading Hunch is free. Membership is optional and unlocks the additional features described on the membership page. Current prices are shown there and are the prices that apply when you subscribe.
- Prices are in pounds sterling. Where VAT applies it is shown at checkout before you pay.
- Membership is billed in advance, monthly or annually, to the payment method you provide.
- Membership renews automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. We will tell you before each annual renewal.
- We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before any price increase takes effect. If you do not want to continue at the new price, cancel before your next renewal date.
- If a payment fails we will try again and let you know. If it still fails, membership features pause until payment succeeds. Your account and your forecasting record are not deleted.
- If we state a price incorrectly, we are not obliged to supply membership at that price. We will tell you and you can confirm at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
9. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation stops the next renewal. Your membership continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Your 14-day statutory right. Because you buy membership online, you normally have 14 days from the day we confirm it to change your mind and receive a refund, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
When you subscribe you ask us to start your membership immediately rather than wait 14 days. If you then cancel within the 14 days, we refund what you paid less a proportionate amount for the days you had access. You can tell us you are cancelling by using the dashboard or by writing to info@readhunch.com; a clear statement is enough.
Outside the 14 days we do not refund the unused part of a period, except where the law requires it or where section 10 applies.
10. If something goes wrong
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 we must supply the service with reasonable care and skill, and any digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Nothing in these terms removes those rights.
If membership features do not work as described, tell us at info@readhunch.com. We will fix the problem within a reasonable time, and if we cannot, you are entitled to an appropriate reduction in what you paid.
11. Changes to the service
Hunch is an evolving product and features will change. We may add, alter or withdraw features, and we may pause the service for maintenance. If we withdraw a membership feature that was a significant reason you subscribed, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of your current period.
12. Intellectual property
"Hunch", "Echo", and associated marks are trademarks of Krok Group Ltd. Echo content is © Krok Group Ltd; you may share short excerpts with link attribution. Brand assets are available at press resources.
13. Liability
We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that is not foreseeable, or for business losses, because Hunch is supplied for personal use. Where we are liable, our total liability for all claims in any 12-month period is limited to the membership fees you paid us in that period, or £100 if you paid us nothing. We never exclude liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under English law, and nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
14. Termination
We may suspend or close an account for material breach of these terms, with notice where reasonable. You may close yours at any time.
15. Complaints
Complaints about billing, your account or the service go to info@readhunch.com. We aim to acknowledge within two working days and resolve within 30 days.
Complaints about an Echo, its accuracy or its fairness follow the process in our Editorial Code of Practice, which sets out how we correct and how you can reply.
If we cannot resolve a complaint between us, you can take it to the courts as set out in section 16. Nothing here limits your right to seek help from Citizens Advice or your local Trading Standards.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes go to the courts of England and Wales, subject to your rights as a consumer in your country of residence.
17. General
- If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, we do not lose it.
- We may transfer these terms to another company if Hunch is sold or reorganised. Your rights are not reduced by that. You may not transfer your account to someone else.
- These terms, together with the pages they link to, are the whole agreement between us about Hunch.
- Hunch links to other publications. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content.
- Neither of us is liable for failures caused by events outside reasonable control.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified via email and in your dashboard at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
