Prince Harry comes to Britain for five days. Will he see his father, the King?

Prince Harry arrives in Britain for a five-day trip before the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027. Reports say no meeting with the King is planned.

What happened

Prince Harry’s plan to bring Meghan and their children to the UK was thrown into doubt days before travel, after the government declined his request for police protection outside royal residences.

Prince Harry is due in Britain for about five days. His events mark one year until the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, the sports event for injured soldiers that he started. He also has events for WellChild and Scotty’s Little Soldiers, the two charities he has supported longest.

The plan changed within two weeks. In mid-June, the Guardian reported, Harry and Meghan had accepted an invitation to stay in a royal home with their children. The row over police protection has since put the family’s part in the trip in doubt.

The big question is whether Harry and his father meet. Buckingham Palace has not confirmed a meeting with the King or with Prince William, the Prince of Wales, and neither has Harry’s side. The row over police protection is the same one that has made meetings hard to arrange before.

The Pattern

Harry met the King on two of his six visits since the coronation. We looked at each of Harry’s visits to Britain since the King was crowned in and asked whether they met face to face. Both meetings followed something unusual: the King’s cancer diagnosis, and later the end of 19 months without a meeting. The reports come from the Guardian and PA Media.

2 of 6
Two of Harry's last six UK visits since the coronation ended with a meeting with the King, and both needed an extraordinary trigger: the cancer diagnosis in February 2024, then the thaw that broke a 19-month freeze in September 2025. Routine charity visits have gone none from four. The page shows the five most recent moments in that record, including the July 2025 contact that went no further than the two camps' aides.
2025 Harry, Clarence Househeld
September: Harry and the King meet for around 55 minutes over tea at Clarence House during a WellChild trip — their first meeting in 19 months.
2025 Aides, Londonnot held
July: senior aides to both camps are photographed meeting in London, widely read as the opening of a peace channel after Harry loses his Court of Appeal security case in May. Harry and the King do not meet.

2024 Harry, St Paul'snot held
May: Harry is in London for the Invictus Games 10th anniversary service at St Paul’s; no meeting — the palace cites the King’s full programme.
2024 Harry, Clarence Househeld
February: Harry flies overnight after the King’s cancer diagnosis is announced and gets roughly 30 minutes at Clarence House before Charles departs for Sandringham.
2023 Harry, Westminster Abbeynot held
May: Harry attends the coronation at Westminster Abbey, sits in the third row, and leaves for California within hours; no private meeting.

The Read

History points to no meeting. Four ordinary charity visits ended without one, and this trip brings a new source of tension. The row over police protection, which has put the family’s part in doubt, is the same one that spoiled plans before. The King has just finished a busy run of state events. The trip is also split between London and Birmingham, and neither side is sounding warm this time. A market in the low thirties may even be generous to a meeting.

The weak point is . That tea at Clarence House came in almost the same conditions. It was a WellChild visit with no meeting in the diary, and it was confirmed only hours before. Both sides now have a working line of contact that they did not have in 2024, and five days is the longest Harry has spent in Britain since the coronation. This record tends to miss meetings arranged at the last minute, and 34% leaves room for a late call on day four.

A statement from the palace or from Harry’s side during the five days would settle it.
