Why these numbers

History. 1 of 3 years. Airbus met its first target in 2018. Boeing in 2023 and Airbus in 2025 missed theirs; both met the lower target they set after the cut.

Hunch. Reuters reported on 25 September that Airbus had delivered 475 jets by the end of August, leaving about 395 for the last four months of the year.

How this resolves

The full-year market resolves on the 2026 delivery total Airbus publishes in January 2027: YES if it is 870 or more. Fewer than 870, or no total published by 22 January 2027, resolves NO. Reuters and the Financial Times reports of the total are the backup.

The pattern behind it

2 of 4
In 2 of 4 cases since 2018 the maker cut its yearly delivery target at or before its next results.

We looked for cases where an aircraft maker with a public yearly delivery target said a fault in its jets could delay deliveries, while the target still stood and a results report was ahead. We found four since 2018. The target was cut twice, and both cuts came at or before the next results. Both cuts were small, under 10%. The first target for the year was met in one of three years.
