Why these numbers

History. 0 of 9: none won. The comedy prize went to Lady Bird (2017), Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (2020), Emilia Pérez (2024) and One Battle After Another (2025).

Hunch. Variety's Oscar predictions of 15 October put Artificial among the ten likely best picture nominees.

How this resolves

The Artificial winner market resolves YES if Artificial is named the winner of Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy on 10 January 2027, including a shared win, and NO if another film wins or Artificial is not nominated in that race on 7 December. It settles on the winners list at goldenglobes.com, confirmed by Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.

The pattern behind it

0 of 9
None of nine serious festival films that studios entered as Golden Globes comedies in 2017, 2020, 2024 and 2025 won the comedy prize. Four were nominated for it, and one was moved to drama.

We looked for cases where a studio entered a film for the Golden Globes as a comedy or musical, while the press before the nominations called it a drama, a horror or a crime film, or a close choice. All came after a 2016 rule that dramas with comedic overtones should be entered as dramas. We counted only films that first showed at a big film festival, as Artificial did at the New York Film Festival. We found nine such festival films in 2017, 2020, 2024 and 2025. Five of them came in one year, 2024. (Variety; The Hollywood Reporter)
