Hunch. On 20 October the Golden Globes accepted the horror film Obsession as a comedy, and none of the disputed comedy entries of 2024 and 2025 was moved to drama.
The drama market resolves YES if before 5:00 a.m. Pacific time on 7 December 2026 the Golden Globes move Artificial into the drama races, shown by a Golden Globes statement, by reports in Variety, The Hollywood Reporter or Deadline, or by Artificial listed in a drama race on 7 December, and NO if a move comes only at Neon's own request or the film stays in comedy. It settles on goldenglobes.com, or on two of Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline if the Golden Globes say nothing.
We looked for cases where a studio entered a film for the Golden Globes as a comedy or musical, while the press before the nominations called it a drama, a horror or a crime film, or a close choice. All came after a 2016 rule that dramas with comedic overtones should be entered as dramas
. We counted only films that first showed at a big film festival, as Artificial did at the New York Film Festival. We found nine such festival films in 2017, 2020, 2024 and 2025. Five of them came in one year, 2024. (Variety; The Hollywood Reporter)
