Resolved: YES

The Milwaukee Brewers won the National League Championship Series 4-0 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, clinching with a 6-4 win in Game 4 that ended on 16 October 2026 UK time, and the official MLB bracket shows them in the World Series, as The Guardian confirms.

Why these numbers

Hunch. Four of the same eight teams reached the World Series, but only one of the four since 2022 did, and Milwaukee now have to win two series rather than one.

How this resolves

The market resolves on the official postseason bracket at mlb.com, updated at the end of the National League Championship Series, which is 19 October at the latest. It resolves YES if Milwaukee are shown as the National League champion.

The pattern behind it

5 of 8
Five of the eight best-record teams since 2017 won their first series: the Dodgers in 2017 and 2024, the Red Sox in 2018, the Astros in 2019, the Brewers in 2025. The three that lost: Giants 2021, Dodgers 2022, Braves 2023.

We looked at every team with the best regular-season record in Major League Baseball from 2017 to 2025, and checked whether it won its first playoff series. In all eight seasons that was the Division Series. We left out 2020, a short season of 60 games. From 2022 the playoffs grew from ten teams to twelve, and the top two in each league got a bye with about five days off. We kept all eight seasons together, because four would be too few, and show the four since 2022 on their own. The Los Angeles Dodgers appear three times.
