History. In six of seven laws since 1999 that moved a public broadcaster from a household fee to state money, the fee ended on the planned start date. In Poland in 2009 the president blocked it.
Hunch. On 25 October the bill was still with a committee of MPs, and the Senate and the president can each hold it for weeks before 1 January.
The fee market resolves on the Czech Chamber of Deputies' record of print 231 and the Collection of Laws: YES if by the end of 31 December 2026 the law is published and ends the household fee for Czech Television and Czech Radio by 1 January 2027. We looked for cases where a government, or the parties in it, asked parliament to end the household fee for public radio and TV and pay for them from the state budget or a tax. We found seven such laws since 1999, in France, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Poland and the Netherlands. In six, the fee ended on the day the government had named.
