The Pitt is marked Winner of Outstanding Drama Series 2026 on the Television Academy's nominees and winners page, its second consecutive win in the category (televisionacademy.com). The BBC's full list of winners published on 15 September 2026 records the same result (bbc.co.uk).

How this resolves

The market resolves on the Television Academy's nominees and winners page for Outstanding Drama Series 2026 (televisionacademy.com), updated live on the night of 14 September 2026; resolves YES if The Pitt is marked Winner. If that source has not published in time, Variety and Deadline winners lists settle it.

The pattern behind it

5 of 8
Five of the last eight times the reigning Outstanding Drama Series winner was nominated again, it won again: Mad Men in 2011, Breaking Bad in 2014, Game of Thrones in 2016 and 2019, and Succession in 2023. Across all ten such years since 2009 the count is seven of ten, adding Mad Men's defences in 2009 and 2010. The three failures were Mad Men in 2012 (to Homeland's first season), Homeland in 2013 (to Breaking Bad's fifth) and The Handmaid's Tale in 2018 (to Game of Thrones' seventh).

Since 2009, the best drama winner was nominated again ten times. We checked the Television Academy's records to see whether each one won a second year running. The last eight are shown below.
