Why these numbers

History. The host won the series in five of ten such series, four of them in Australia. A figure of 50 points nowhere, so this market is not scored for accuracy.

Hunch. Pakistan won the first match of the series, against Sri Lanka by 37 runs on 18 October.

How this resolves

The series market resolves on the result of the final on BBC Sport: YES if Pakistan win the final in Lahore on 31 October 2026, and NO if England or Sri Lanka win it or Pakistan do not reach it. A final with no result and a shared trophy, or a final moved past 7 November, is VOID, with icc-cricket.com and The Guardian as the backups.

The pattern behind it

5 of 9
In five of nine three-team one-day series hosted by a team that had won its last two home series, the host won most of its group games against the visitors, and four times it did not. Editorial scoring note: Ten series are displayed; group results are complete for nine and the host won a majority in five. Sri Lanka 2005 is excluded only from that group-results denominator, not from series wins (5/10) or final appearances (7/10). Five series had Australia as host. The group statistic is not a probability for one Pakistan match.

We looked for cases where a country hosted a men's three-team one-day series with a final, after winning its last two one-day series at home. We found ten such series from 2003 to 2015. Australia was the host in five of them. In five of the nine where all group results are known, the host won most of its group games against the two visitors, and all five times it was Australia.
