Resolves 31 Dec 2026
Why these numbers

Hunch. The head of Spain's broadcaster RTVE backs a boycott again, the BBC reported on 27 October, and Israel, the reason for the boycott, stays in the 2027 contest.

How this resolves

Resolves YES if by 31 December 2026 the European Broadcasting Union or RTVE publicly confirms that Spain takes part in Eurovision 2027, and that confirmation is not withdrawn by that day. A refusal, a withdrawn confirmation or no confirmation by 31 December is NO, and if the EBU and RTVE pages do not open, BBC and Guardian reports decide.

The pattern behind it

4 of 7
Four of seven times a country boycotted Eurovision, it took part in the next contest, and three times it stayed away. The three that stayed away all left in 2026 over Israel taking part.

We looked for cases where a country stayed away from Eurovision in protest at another country, the host or the organisers, and then had to decide about the next contest. We found seven such times since 1975.
