How this resolves

Klopp confirmation resolves YES only on an official DFB announcement naming Klopp as head coach (Bundestrainer) on or before 7 August 2026; reports of agreement in principle do not count. DFB official channels (dfb.de and DFB press releases), corroborated by two of Reuters, Sky, or ESPN.

The pattern behind it

3 of 4
Three of the last four Germany head-coach successions were confirmed within six weeks of the vacancy opening. The split is honest: when the exit is a crisis rather than a plan, the DFB moves fast.

Three of the last four new coaches came within six weeks. We looked at the last four times Germany changed head coach and at how long the DFB took to confirm the next one. The slow case was 2021, when the change from Joachim Löw to Hansi Flick was planned in advance and took about eleven weeks.
