Hunch. On 13 October the trust told councillors home births would be back before Christmas, but its written report the same day said the date was not yet confirmed.
The home births market resolves on the statements page of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: YES if by the end of 24 December 2026 the trust says its home birth service is taking women again, even in stages or for limited hours, and NO if it is still paused or a new date has been named. Papers of the county council's health overview and scrutiny committee and BBC Gloucestershire settle it if the trust page is silent.
We looked for publicly announced restart timetables after an NHS trust in England stopped births at a midwife-led unit or at home because of staffing shortages. The timetable could name a date, month or season. We found eight such timetables from 2022 to 2026, made by five trusts. One was met on time.
