Resolved: NO

By 16 October 2026 NAHT had not announced a ballot with dates on Ofsted: its executive on 15 October only called for new Ofsted leaders, and the same-day NAHT Cymru approval of a pay strike ballot in Wales gave no dates, so the rule's 'vote with dates' test is not met (NAHT press room, Wales Online).

Why these numbers

History. 1 of 7: only once was a vote called within a week, by a conference itself; the fastest executive took 11 days.

Hunch. NAHT already stepped back from action over these same inspections in 2025 after talks with Ofsted and the government.

How this resolves

The first NAHT market resolves on the NAHT press room: YES if by 16 October, or the day of the executive meeting once it is named, NAHT announces or opens a vote of members on action with dates. A promise to consult members is NO; BBC News and The Guardian are the backup.

The pattern behind it

4 of 7
Four of seven times a UK union of senior staff threatened action, it called a vote of members within a month. Once it took 104 days, and twice it never did.

We looked for cases where a UK union of senior staff who rarely strike, mostly head teachers, publicly threatened action against the government or a regulator. We found seven since 2009: five at NAHT, one at ASCL and one at the FDA, the union for senior civil servants.
