Resolved: NO

By 23:59 CET on 1 November 2026 no named person had declared a candidacy against Gianni Infantino: The Guardian's last report (29 October) said Uefa was still choosing a candidate, and BBC Sport has no declaration; fifa.com news did not open.

Why these numbers

Hunch. Editorial scoring note: All four identified organized-bloc challenges produced a formally nominated challenger; three reached a ballot and two incumbents won. The 2019 no-bloc control is not a fifth failure. Declaration, formal nomination and winning are distinct outcomes; this selected record does not establish general reliability.

How this resolves

The market resolves on fifa.com, or a whitelisted outlet carrying a first-person public statement, by 23:59 CET on 1 November 2026, in which a named person says they are a candidate or will stand for the FIFA presidency, or a published nomination letter from a member association naming them. Statements of interest, exploratory remarks and third-party draft campaigns resolve NO; a candidacy later withdrawn or rejected in eligibility checks still resolves YES, because the market tests whether a challenger files, not whether one reaches the ballot in Rabat. If that source has not published in time, BBC Sport and The Guardian settle it.

The pattern behind it

4 of 4
The four identified organized-bloc challenges produced formally nominated challengers. Three reached a ballot and the incumbent won two. The 2019 control had no organized bloc and is outside this four-case count. This is a description of the identified record, not proof that bloc opposition reliably produces a challenger.
