On 19 October 2026 Unite suspended the 23 October to 2 November strikes by Leeds Bradford air traffic controllers for talks through ACAS and the airport said all planned action was withdrawn, according to BBC News; no later report of a strike or a new strike date was found up to midday on 2 November.
Hunch. Unite said on 13 October that a new air traffic controller earns about £34,000 at Leeds Bradford and £55,000 at Newcastle.
The strike market resolves on BBC News reports for Leeds and West Yorkshire: YES if Unite air traffic controllers at Leeds Bradford Airport do not strike on any day from 23 October to 2 November 2026, and NO if they strike on at least one of those days. Strikes by other airport staff do not count, and the Yorkshire Post and Sky News settle it if BBC News is silent.
We looked for cases where a union of UK airport staff paused a strike after a new offer from the employer, so members could vote on it, while later strike dates stayed planned. We found four such times, at Birmingham, Heathrow and Gatwick, from 2023 to 2025. The later strikes went ahead in none of them.
