Why these numbers

History. 3 of 5 such teams won 57 or more; the others won 49 and 24.

Hunch. LeBron James, the newest star, is 41 and starts a record 24th season in the league (The Independent, 9 Oct).

How this resolves

The 50-win market resolves on the same final table on 11 April 2027: YES if Philadelphia win 50 or more of their 82 games, NO if 49 or fewer. If games are cancelled, the record on the last day counts, with ESPN as the backup.

The pattern behind it

3 of 5
Three of five teams with two stars that added another in one summer finished first in their conference. Phoenix finished sixth and Philadelphia 13th.

We looked for cases where an NBA team that already had two stars added at least one more in a single summer. A star here is a player the press at the time called an All-Star, a most valuable player or part of the team's leading pair or trio. We found five such teams from 2016 to 2024, and checked where each finished in its conference.
