America PAC's Pre-General report, filed with the FEC on 22 October 2026, shows new gifts from Elon Musk of $12.6m on 6 October, $19m on 8 October and $43.2m on 14 October 2026, and The Independent reported on 23 October that he gave $77m to America PAC in early October.
History. 3 of 5: Uihlein, Yass and Griffin in 2024 gave new money shown in Pre-General reports; Adelson 2024 gave only after that report closed, Soros 2022 gave nothing new before the vote. Stand-in actor: other donors, not Musk.
Hunch. Elon Musk gave $53.6m of new money in the first half of October 2024, the same weeks the 22 October reports cover now.
The new money market resolves on FEC records: YES if a report filed by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on 22 October 2026 shows a gift dated 1 to 14 October 2026 from Elon Musk, his trust or another donor name tied to him, to a group that takes unlimited gifts and spends only for Republicans, such as the Senate Leadership Fund, the Congressional Leadership Fund or America PAC. Gifts to candidates, party committees or groups that do not report to the FEC do not count, and Reuters and The Independent settle it if FEC pages do not open.
We looked for cases where one person had given more than $50m to groups backing one party by 30 September of an election year, as FEC reports show. We found five such donors in 2022 and 2024 who had also given big sums at earlier elections and ran a group of their own. Four of them gave in 2024, the year of a presidential election.
