Why these numbers

Hunch. The BMA says a credible pay offer could avert further action; the selected past strikes include a cancellation before the scheduled start.

How this resolves

The strike market resolves on the BMA media centre page and BBC News Northern Ireland: YES if the 24-hour strike by resident doctors in Northern Ireland begins at 7am on 20 November 2026 as announced, and NO if the BMA calls it off, suspends it or moves it before then, whether after an offer, after agreed talks or for any other reason. The Guardian settles it if the BMA page and BBC are silent.

The pattern behind it

9 of 10
Nine of these ten selected strikes began. The June 2026 England strike was cancelled after a formal offer on 12 June and before its 15 June start.

We examined ten selected repeat hospital-doctor strikes in the UK. Nine began as announced; one was called off before its start. These cases track whether action began, not whether an offer was made or accepted.
