Why these numbers

Hunch. An offer is not the same as acceptance or cancellation: the November and December 2025 examples include rejected non-pay proposals.

How this resolves

The offer market resolves on the BMA media centre and the Department of Health Northern Ireland news pages: YES if, after announcement of this strike and before 7am on 20 November 2026, the department or Stormont Executive makes the BMA a new concrete written settlement offer, confirmed by either body. An offer can cover pay, pay restoration, a payment date or concrete non-pay terms such as exam fees. An implemented award, invitation to talks, working group or process-only arbitration does not qualify. NO if no qualifying offer is made in that window. BBC News Northern Ireland and The Guardian settle it if the official pages are silent.

The pattern behind it

9 of 10
Nine of these ten selected strikes began. The June 2026 England strike was cancelled after a formal offer on 12 June and before its 15 June start.

We examined ten selected repeat hospital-doctor strikes in the UK. Nine began as announced; one was called off before its start. These cases track whether action began, not whether an offer was made or accepted.
