Why these numbers

History. 1 of 4: only the Düsseldorf trial reached a verdict within 135 days. The Hamburg trial of two men working for Iran had no verdict after 106 days and is counted as not yet; its hearings are set to 16 October.

Hunch. The court has already set hearing days through February, more than the 22 and 27 days the Stuttgart and Munich trials needed.

How this resolves

The verdict market resolves on the Hamburg Higher Regional Court press page: YES if a verdict against Serhii K is announced by 26 February 2027, whatever it says, and NO if there is none by then. BBC and Al Jazeera reports are the backup.

The pattern behind it

1 of 4
One of four trials reached a verdict within 135 days of the first day, in Düsseldorf after 98 days. Two took 154 and 163 days, and one has run 106 days without a verdict.

We looked for cases where a state security panel of a German higher regional court tried a foreign national for sabotage on behalf of another state. We found four such trials since 2023, each in a different city. In two of them the accused were also German citizens.
