NET said on 21 October 2026 that the GMB had cancelled the strikes due to begin on 22 October after members approved a revised pay offer, so trams ran normally that day, as BBC Nottingham also reported.
Hunch. The GMB union announced 25 strike days on 9 October, before Monday's talks, while no offer above 3.3% was on the table.
The first-day market resolves on NET news at thetram.net and BBC Nottingham on 22 October 2026: YES if the GMB strike began that day and trams did not run or ran a reduced service because of it, and NO if the strike for that day was called off or paused before it. Nottingham Post and The Guardian are the backup.
We looked for cases where a union set strike dates on a UK tram or light rail network after workers turned down a pay offer. We found ten such rounds since 2019, on four networks. The first strike day went ahead five times. The other five times it was called off before it began, usually one or two days before.
