Hansard shows no Home Secretary oral statement or urgent question answer on the Dover or Portsmouth protests on the Commons sitting days 14-15 September and 12-14 October 2026; Shabana Mahmood's 12 October statement was on national security after the Widdecombe case and did not mention either town.
(adjacent). The market resolves on Hansard: YES if the Home Secretary makes an oral statement or answers an urgent question in the Commons on the Dover or Portsmouth protests between 14 September and 14 October 2026; a statement by the policing minister, a written statement or a Lords statement does not count, and the Commons is in conference recess from 16 September. If Hansard has not published, BBC News and the Guardian settle it, and silence resolves NO.
We looked for anti-immigration protests in Britain since 2023 where the same town saw protests on two weekends in a row, and the first weekend had arrests or disorder reported by police. Then we checked news reports of the weekend after, looking for a protest in the same place with arrests or disorder. We found three such cases, one fewer than the four our method asks for, so the record is thin.
