How this resolves

(adjacent). The audio market resolves on skysports.com carrying the Match Officials Mic'd Up audio, or a Pro Ref release of the VAR audio, of the Haaland decision by 23:59 BST on 30 September 2026, with premierleague.com or BBC Sport as the second source; a written explanation without audio does not count. Silence on all three resolves NO.

The pattern behind it

7 of 8
Seven of the last eight officials named in an admitted refereeing error were left out of the next Premier League round. The exception is Chris Kavanagh in February 2022, who refereed the next evening. All six under Webb held.

We found eight times since VAR began in 2019-20 when the Premier League referees' body, now called Pro Ref, publicly admitted a VAR or referee mistake that changed a match, and told the club within two days. For each one we checked whether the official it named was left out of every Premier League game in the next round, as referee, VAR, assistant VAR or fourth official.
