How this resolves

(adjacent). The Carrick market resolves on manutd.com club statements: it resolves YES if no statement announcing his departure, dismissal or resignation as head coach is published by 23:59 BST on 14 October 2026, and NO if one is. If the club site is silent while BBC Sport and Sky Sports both report his exit as confirmed by the club, those two settle it.

The pattern behind it

7 of 8
Seven of the last eight officials named in an admitted refereeing error were left out of the next Premier League round. The exception is Chris Kavanagh in February 2022, who refereed the next evening. All six under Webb held.

We found eight times since VAR began in 2019-20 when the Premier League referees' body, now called Pro Ref, publicly admitted a VAR or referee mistake that changed a match, and told the club within two days. For each one we checked whether the official it named was left out of every Premier League game in the next round, as referee, VAR, assistant VAR or fourth official.
