Hunch. Amazon is openly going for a second Christmas number one in a row, but Sam Fender, Olivia Rodrigo and an early return of Wham! make this year's field stronger than last year's.
The number one market resolves on the Official Singles Chart dated 25 December 2026 on OfficialCharts.com: YES if Step Into Christmas (Amazon Music Original) by Elton John and CMAT is number one, NO if any other song is, and other versions of the song do not count, but one chart entry that joins the new version with the 1973 recording does. BBC News and The Guardian settle it if the chart page cannot be read.
We looked for cases where a music streaming service put out a Christmas song of its own that was not on rival streaming apps, before the UK Christmas chart. We found eight Christmases from 2018 to 2025, all of them Amazon Music. Its song was number one once, in 2025. In the other seven years it reached between number 2 and number 56.
