Resolved: NO

No senior world record was set in any of the 28 finals in Budapest on 11 to 13 September; the nearest was Duplantis failing at 6.32m after winning at 6.20m. Sources: worldathletics.org event reports and the nbcsports.com full results list, in which every winning mark is below the standing world record.

How this resolves

The world-record market resolves on the official results and reports World Athletics publishes from Budapest for 11-13 September, at the latest on the morning of 14 September. It resolves YES if World Athletics reports a senior world record in any individual event on the programme, with ratification not required and relay marks not counting. If World Athletics has published nothing, the BBC Sport and Guardian reports of the three nights settle it.

The pattern behind it

1 of 6
One of the last six Diamond League finals produced senior world records: Tsegay over 5000m and Duplantis in the pole vault, Eugene 2023. The finals of 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2026 produced meeting and area records only.

One of the last six Diamond League finals saw a world record. The Diamond League final is the season-ending meeting where the best athletes face each other, and World Athletics already runs it. We looked at the last six finals in the federation's own reports, and asked whether a senior world record was set at each.
