How this resolves

The pole vault market resolves on the same official results, YES only if Duplantis clears a height above his own standing world record; an equalling clearance resolves NO. If World Athletics has published nothing by 14 September, BBC Sport and the Guardian settle it.

The pattern behind it

1 of 6
One of the last six Diamond League finals produced senior world records: Tsegay over 5000m and Duplantis in the pole vault, Eugene 2023. The finals of 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2026 produced meeting and area records only.

One of the last six Diamond League finals saw a world record. The Diamond League final is the season-ending meeting where the best athletes face each other, and World Athletics already runs it. We looked at the last six finals in the federation's own reports, and asked whether a senior world record was set at each.
