How this resolves

The market resolves on the official awards announcement of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival published at labiennale.org on the evening of 12 September 2026. YES if Ink, or any of its credited cast or writers for their work on Ink, is named for the Golden Lion, a Silver Lion, the Special Jury Prize, a Volpi Cup, the award for Best Screenplay or the Marcello Mastroianni Award. Collateral, Orizzonti and independent-jury prizes do not count. If that source has not published in time, Variety and Deadline reports of the ceremony settle it.

The pattern behind it

3 of 8
Three of the last eight in-competition openers took an official award: La La Land (2016), Madres paralelas (2021) and La Grazia (2025), each through a Volpi Cup for its lead actor. The other five, Downsizing, First Man, La vérité, White Noise and Comandante, went home empty-handed. Zero of the eight won the Golden Lion. The eight festivals are the full record counted here.

We looked at every Venice festival from 2016 to 2025 where the opening film was in the main competition. Eight festivals fit. In 2020 and 2024 the opening film was not in the competition, so they are left out. For each of the eight, we checked whether the jury named the opening film in its official awards on the last night, from the Golden Lion down to the acting prizes.
