Why these numbers

History. In five of the ten latest reports by such committees, the government fully agreed to the first demand, all five from the Public Accounts Committee.

Hunch. On 22 October, the day after the report, the government listed developing England's first wildfire action plan among its steps.

How this resolves

Resolves YES if a government reply published by 16 January 2027 says it accepts or agrees with recommendation 64, to complete and publish its wildfire action plan, including 'in principle' and with any date. A partial acceptance, a note, a delay or no reply by 16 January is NO, with GOV.UK and Parliament as sources and BBC News and The Guardian as backups.

The pattern behind it

3 of 10
In three of the ten latest reports by such committees, ministers replied by the deadline. Four replies came late, two have not come, and one has no exact date.

We looked for cases where a committee of MPs, chaired by an opposition MP but with most members from the governing party, sent the government a report with demands that needed a written reply. We took the ten latest such reports, from June and July 2026. Five came from the Public Accounts Committee, which checks how public money is spent.
