No club confirmation or matching reports of an offer at or above €130m appeared before the deadline; Atlético said in late August that Álvarez would not be sold to Barcelona at any price, per the BBC and Al Jazeera.

How this resolves

The market resolves on an on-record confirmation from Barcelona (Laporta, Deco or a club statement) or an Atlético Madrid statement acknowledging receipt of a bid of €130m or more, by 23:59 CET, 1 Aug 2026. If that source has not published in time, matching reports from at least two of ESPN, Sky Sports, Marca and AS settle it.

The pattern behind it

2 of 6
Two of the last six players publicly declared not for sale mid-window joined the club chasing them before that window shut, and six is the full scored record since 2013. Both moves needed the release clause paid in full: PSG for Neymar in 2017, Barcelona for Griezmann in 2019. Suárez, De Gea, Coutinho and Mbappé all stayed. Six cases is the full record and at the floor Hunch requires to show History.

Since 2013, clubs have publicly declared six star players not for sale during a transfer window while rich clubs chased them. We looked at how those standoffs ended. The newest come first.
