(adjacent). apple.com allows customers in the United States to place a pre-order for a folding-display iPhone by 23:59 BST on 18 September 2026, as stated in an Apple newsroom release or visible on apple.com. If that source has not published in time, Reuters and the Guardian settle it.

The pattern behind it

8 of 8
Eight of the last eight base flagship iPhones were in Apple stores by the second Friday after the keynote, never more than eleven days. Across all fourteen September-cycle launches since 2012 it is thirteen of fourteen; the exception is 2015, when the iPhone 6s took sixteen days. The 2020 event slipped to October but the phone still shipped in ten days. New shapes have run slower: the iPhone X took 52 days in 2017, the XR 44 days in 2018 and the 14 Plus 30 days in 2022.

The last eight iPhone launches all reached stores in time. We looked at fourteen launches since 2012, using Apple's own press releases. For each we measured the days between the event and the day the main new model was in Apple stores. The test was the second Friday after the event, at most eleven days later. Thirteen of the fourteen made it.
