Hunch. The group is new, with no past leaks to its name, and Asos has not said it will refuse to pay.
The posting market resolves on BBC News and Guardian reports, or an Asos statement, because the hackers' own site cannot be checked: YES if by the end of 5 November they report that the group posted Asos data beyond the sample shown with the threat, NO if not.
We looked for cases where hackers publicly threatened to leak a company's data while the company had not yet confirmed any theft. We found six such threats from 2015 to 2025 in BBC News and Guardian reports. All six companies confirmed the theft within a week, and in three the hackers posted the data within a month.
