The Parliament bills record shows no Lords bill on assisted dying or terminally ill adults with a first reading between 13 September and 13 October 2026; the last Lords bill, Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults Bill [HL], dates from the previous session.
(adjacent). The market resolves on bills.parliament.uk, which lists Lords bills on the day of first reading: YES if a bill whose short title contains assisted dying or terminally ill adults has a Lords first reading dated 13 September to 13 October 2026; a Commons bill carried to the Lords does not count. If the record has not updated, Lords Hansard and BBC News settle it, and silence by 23:59 BST on 13 October resolves NO.
We looked at every assisted dying bill voted down in the Commons, the Lords or the Scottish Parliament since 1969. There are seven. For each, we checked whether the sponsor or the main campaign named its next step within 31 days: a new bill, a Lords bill, a promise to enter the ballot, or an inquiry by a committee. Bills that ran out of time without a vote are left out. Only one of the seven named a next step within the month.
