Liverpool completed the signing on 31 August, a day before the window shut, with Sky Sports reporting a £123m deal for the France winger and The Athletic putting the initial fee at £106m (Sky Sports, 31 Aug 2026; The Athletic, 4 Sep 2026).

How this resolves

The market resolves on Liverpool FC (liverpoolfc.com) confirmation of the completed permanent transfer of Bradley Barcola, or the Premier League's confirmation of his registration, by 01:00 BST on 2 September 2026, allowing for the two-hour deal-sheet extension after the 23:00 deadline on 1 September. A loan with an obligation to buy counts; a loan without one does not. If that source has not published in time, Sky Sports and BBC Sport settle it.

The pattern behind it

3 of 4
Three of the last four comparable late-window deals since 2022 completed before the window shut, two of them on deadline day itself. The exception is the most instructive: Liverpool's £35m move for Marc Guehi had an agreed fee, a sanctioned medical and a submitted deal sheet, and still died when Crystal Palace could not find a replacement defender. That is the live risk here. PSG's willingness to lose a forward, not Liverpool's willingness to pay, is what decides this one. The full record is the same four cases, 2022 to 2025.

We looked for big transfer fees agreed by Premier League clubs in the last days of a window since 2022, and asked whether the deal was done before the window shut. We found four. In the one that failed, the fee was agreed and the selling club pulled out because it had not found a replacement.
