Bradley Barcola came off the bench for Liverpool in the 2-0 Premier League win at Ipswich Town on Friday 4 September 2026, sixteen days before the deadline, and the Premier League's own report records the appearance and his 35.93 km/h sprint six minutes after coming on. He then made his full debut, starting the 2-1 Champions League win over Atletico Madrid on 9 September 2026 before going off on 60 minutes with cramp.

How this resolves

The market resolves on the official team sheet for any competitive Liverpool fixture on or before 20 September 2026, as published by the Premier League, UEFA or Liverpool FC. It resolves YES if Barcola is listed as a starter or substitute. If that source has not published in time, BBC Sport and Sky Sports match reports settle it.

The pattern behind it

3 of 4
Three of the last four comparable late-window deals since 2022 completed before the window shut, two of them on deadline day itself. The exception is the most instructive: Liverpool's £35m move for Marc Guehi had an agreed fee, a sanctioned medical and a submitted deal sheet, and still died when Crystal Palace could not find a replacement defender. That is the live risk here. PSG's willingness to lose a forward, not Liverpool's willingness to pay, is what decides this one. The full record is the same four cases, 2022 to 2025.

We looked for big transfer fees agreed by Premier League clubs in the last days of a window since 2022, and asked whether the deal was done before the window shut. We found four. In the one that failed, the fee was agreed and the selling club pulled out because it had not found a replacement.
