How this resolves
The market resolves on Liverpool FC (liverpoolfc.com) announcements of completed permanent or loan transfers into the first-team squad, other than Barcola, by 01:00 BST on 2 September 2026. Contract renewals and academy promotions do not count. If that source has not published in time, the Premier League registration list, BBC Sport and Sky Sports deadline-day trackers settle it.
The pattern behind it
3 of 4
Three of the last four comparable late-window deals since 2022 completed before the window shut, two of them on deadline day itself. The exception is the most instructive: Liverpool's £35m move for Marc Guehi had an agreed fee, a sanctioned medical and a submitted deal sheet, and still died when Crystal Palace could not find a replacement defender. That is the live risk here. PSG's willingness to lose a forward, not Liverpool's willingness to pay, is what decides this one. The full record is the same four cases, 2022 to 2025.
We looked for big transfer fees agreed by Premier League clubs in the last days of a window since 2022, and asked whether the deal was done before the window shut. We found four. In the one that failed, the fee was agreed and the selling club pulled out because it had not found a replacement.
