No Hormuz agreement between Iran and any Gulf state was announced by the end of 9 October 2026: Al Jazeera's closing summary of 9 October and its 10 October live page report only new Revolutionary Guard attacks on ships, and BBC News on 8 October reported Iran still targeting ships on the southern route; the Iranian foreign ministry and GCC pages could not be read and Reuters blocked access.
Resolves YES if Iran and at least one Gulf Cooperation Council state, or the GCC secretariat, announce an agreed arrangement on the management or reopening of the Strait of Hormuz by 23:59 BST on 9 October 2026; an announcement of further talks, a proposal or a one-sided statement resolves NO. Statements published by the Iranian foreign ministry and the GCC secretariat settle it, and if neither has published, reports from two of Al Jazeera, Reuters and BBC News do.
We looked for times since 2007 when Gulf Arab states opened direct talks with Iran to settle a live dispute, either as a side in it or as the go-between. We found six. Two led to an agreement announced within 30 days. The other four brought no agreement in that time.
