Resolved: NO

The seven countries decided to maintain September's required production for October and set the next meeting for 4 October (OPEC, 6 Sep 2026).

Resolved 6 Sep 2026
How this resolves

Resolves YES if the press release published on opec.org after the 6 September 2026 meeting of the participating countries announces a production level for October 2026 above the September 2026 required production level. If opec.org has not published by 8 September, the decision as reported by at least two of Reuters, Al Jazeera and BBC News suffices.

The pattern behind it

4 of 7
In four of the seven cases since 2019 the next OPEC+ decision after a Gulf attack was an output increase: 400,000 barrels a day after Abu Dhabi and 432,000 after Jeddah in 2022, 548,000 after Al Udeid in 2025 and 188,000 after the Hormuz strikes in 2026. In the other three the group extended an existing cut, in July 2019, failed to agree at all, in March 2020, or deepened its cuts by 500,000 barrels a day, in December 2019 after Abqaiq. The increases came when the group was already on an unwinding schedule; the cut and the extension came when it was managing a glut. Seven cases on the page, seven in the record.

We found seven attacks since May 2019 that fit. Each hit Gulf oil sites or military bases in the weeks before OPEC+ decided how much oil to pump. For each one we checked whether the group's next decision raised output, the same question the first market asks about 6 September.
