By the end of 16 October 2026 no court claim against the MoD Bicester plan had been lodged: Cherwell District Council's news page shows only its 17 September objection, residents' group Bicester Countryside and Communities had sent only a pre-action letter (Local Government Lawyer, 22 September), and BBC News on 14 October reported only a failed Commons motion; the Oxfordshire County Council pre-action letter of 14 October is about local government reorganisation, not Bicester.
The court-claim market resolves on a Cherwell District Council statement at cherwell.gov.uk/news (Tier A for its own decision) or on two of BBC, Oxford Mail and the Guardian reporting that a judicial review claim or injunction application against the MoD Bicester plan, the Urgent Crown Development application or any decision on it has been lodged at the High Court by the council, a parish council or a residents' group on or before 16 October 2026. Pre-action letters, fundraisers, a vote to take counsel's advice or a line about considering legal options resolve NO; silence resolves NO.
We found eight such fights since 2020. Each time the Home Office planned to house asylum seekers on a large former military site, or a similar one, and the local council or residents organised against it. We counted from the day the Home Office confirmed the site and asked whether a council or residents went to court within 31 days. The newest come first. Barnham and Linton-on-Ouse, named in June 2026 with Bicester, are left out because 90 days have not yet passed.
