How this resolves

The scoreline market resolves on the official result of the women's singles final on usopen.org, published at the end of the match on Saturday 12 September. It resolves YES only if three sets are completed, so a straight-sets win either way or a retirement before the third set resolves NO; if that source has not published in time, the WTA match record and BBC Sport settle it.

The pattern behind it

7 of 8
Seven of the eight changes of the WTA world No.1 ranking since January 2019 were still standing four weeks later. The exception is Osaka in August 2019, who lost it back to Barty after exactly four weeks.

Since January 2019 the women's No 1 has changed eight times. For each change we checked whether the new No 1 was still top in the rankings published four weeks later. Here are all eight, newest first.
