The Riksdag held no prime minister vote by 29 September 2026. Magdalena Andersson handed back her task on 28 September, and the Riksdag says the Speaker meets party leaders on 30 September to prepare a proposal.
Hunch. Two of the six votes in this class landed inside 12 days and both were mid-term swaps where the majority was known in advance, while all three post-election cases needed the chamber to be sitting first, which here happens on the threshold date itself.
The election market resolves on the Riksdag's voting record for the vote on the speaker's proposal for prime minister. It resolves YES only if that vote is held and carried before the end of 29 September 2026, whoever the candidate is. A vote lost, a vote postponed or no vote at all resolves NO, and so does a candidate merely being proposed. If the Riksdag has not published the record in time, reports by the BBC and Al Jazeera settle it.
Six of the last nine new prime ministers took office on day 19. We looked at every Swedish general election since 1976 after which the prime minister left office and the Riksdag chose a new one. We counted the days from polling day to the day the new prime minister took office. Elections where the prime minister stayed on are left out.
